Charles Bernard Williamson

July 13, 1925 — September 24, 2019

Charles Bernard Williamson died September 24, 2019, at the age of 94. Charles was born July 13, 1925, in Keota, Oklahoma to his parents, Charles and Fannie (Moseby) Williamson.

His childhood was spent in the Keota area where his family farmed. He had six brothers and they grew up during the great depression and were extremely poor. He had to quit school in the 8th grade to help work the farm and help watch over his younger siblings while his mother worked in the fields and kept everyone fed. While still living in Keota, he worked at the local town grocery store as a young man.

Charles served in the US Navy during WWII as an Electrician Mate 3rd class from 1943-1946. He received training through a military training program after being discharged for auto body repair and eventually became a co-owner with his brother Jim of Williamson Brothers Body Shop in Tulsa and became quite successful.

He met the love of his life Opal Spence and married her 71 years ago. Together they had 2 sons and a daughter and he had 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His life was centered around his family. He was the best husband, father, and Paw Paw. He loved and took care of all of us and we all loved him dearly. Some of his family’s most fond moments are when the whole family would gather together every Thanksgiving and Christmas. They always loved being together.

Some hobbies and activities that he enjoyed were putting hundreds of jigsaw puzzles together and keeping his mind active working on word puzzle books. He enjoyed watching football and baseball sporting events on television.

Charles was a kind and gentle man who always put others first. He had a quick wit and always could put a smile on your face. He worked hard and always provided everything the family needed.

Charles leaves many loving memories to be cherished by his family, his wife of 71 years Opal Williamson of Tulsa, his 3 children; son Mike Williamson of Tulsa, son Dan and wife Evelyn Williamson of Tulsa and daughter Teresa and husband Jerry Pickett of Glenpool, his 6 grandchildren; Shannon Seda of Owasso, OK, Michael Williamson of St. Louis, MO, Jason McKinney of Tulsa, Lindsay Dwyer and husband Kasey of Round Rock, TX, Jeanna Pickett and Fiance Stephen Kaye of Broken Arrow, OK, and John Williamson and wife Kayley of Norman, OK and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Betty Williamson of Tulsa, sister-in-law Jesse Williamson of El Paso, TX and sister-in-law Mary Jo Williamson of Stigler, OK as well as many other loving relatives and a host of friends. Charles will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Some words that best describe who he was are; Loving; Selfless; Humble; Funny; Honest; Patient; and Kind

If everyone was like him, the world would be a gentle peaceful place.
