Carolyn Rae Fulp

Carolyn Rae (Summers) Fulp, age 84, born September 21, 1940, in Statesville, NC joined her parents, husband, and six siblings with our Lord in Heaven on 3 February, 2025, in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Carolyn was the sixth of seven children born to Hila Katherine (Ellis) Summers and Charlie Flake Summers, and grew up on the family's Statesville, NC farm. 

Carolyn wed James Nash Fulp (Jr) on January 10, 1959, and journeyed with him to France, Germany, Arizona and Maryland in association with Jim's Army service. Along the way Carolyn bore three children, and worked several jobs, mostly in banking where she ultimately served as branch manager at banks in both Maryland and North Carolina. Carolyn experienced grief from the early-age passing of; first, her youngest brother, then mother, then husband, followed by the passing of her remaining five siblings. 

Despite this emotional toll, Carolyn arose early daily, dressed to impress, and presented herself professionally and warmly to the world as she soldiered-on, braving the 9-5 grind to care for her children and self. She was, in this way, a classic representative of her generation-the Silent Generation-that followed after the Greatest Generation: chin up, facing forward, and enduring with resolute stubbornness. 

Carolyn cherished gatherings with family, friends and co-workers; always bringing to them a warm glow emanating from a core rooted in classic blue collar southern charm. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends, Daytona Beach trips with sister Julia, the companionship of her pets, and bragging about her children. 

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Virginia Vandall, sons Kenneth Fulp and John Fulp, granddaughters Samantha Vandall, Shannen Vandall, Asia Fulp, and Aspen Fulp, and grandson Nathan Fulp. She will be missed... until our reuniting.
