Carol Dee Meeks

Carol Dee Meeks, daughter of Gearl and Gladys G. (Mitchell) Luckett, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Tulsa. She was born August 9, 1944 in Stanley, New Mexico.

Carol attended college at Oklahoma Christian College in Oklahoma City. She worked as a bookkeeper for Brewer Oil Company.

Carol was the 2004, 2005 and 2007 New Mexico Senior Poet Laureate and the 2009 and 2011 Oklahoma Senior Poet Laureate. She was also a member of the Poetry Society of Oklahoma and the Pennsylvania State Poetry Society.

Carol is survived by her husband, William "Pat" Meeks; son, Patrick "Keith" Meeks and his wife, Lisa of Memphis, TN; son, Preston "Kipp" Meeks and his wife, Kim of Centennial, CO; grandchildren: Trey Bailey, Jessica Smith, Tanner, Tucker and Duke; great grandchildren: Tristan, Nickolei and Kaceson; brother, Bob Luckett of Marlow, Ok; brother, Cecil Luckett and wife, Mary of Leitcher, SD; twin brother, Harold Luckett of Euless, TX; brother, David Luckett and wife, Shari of Estancia, NM; and sister, Teresa Luckett of Tulsa, OK.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2017 and a funeral service will be held 2:00 PM. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 both at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa.
