Candy Herrera, 50, passed away on Friday August 28, 2020 at her home with her loving husband and children at her side.
On February 2, 1970 she was born in San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz, in Mexico. She was the daughter of Bonifacio and Andrea Pucheta Munoz and sister to 7 siblings. In 1990, she migrated to the United States, the land of opportunities, specifically to Los Angeles, California. There she found and married the love of her life Ismael and were together for almost 30 years. They raised a son, Ivan, and a daughter, Carey.
In 2001, she and her family moved to Mounds, Oklahoma and worked as house parents at the Bethesda Boys Ranch for 3 years. This is the place where she first received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior; the place where God had given her dreams; the place where she was filled with the hunger to know him more. She sought the Lord so much she attended classes and graduated from Victory Bible Institute Hispanic, and The Hispanic Institute School of Theology and Ministry at Oral Roberts University
Candy had a passion to help others and always wanted to encourage the younger generation to achieve their potential and God given purpose. Following her time at Bethesda Boys Ranch, she helped start a teen girl’s ministry called Victory by Virtue for Teens Hispanic. She dedicated over 10 years working in the ministry and dedicated her whole heart, own resources, and prayers to her girls. She welcomed everyone who came and treated them as family.
She was a very present mother and close to her children and husband. She was a coffee lover, salsa dancer, excellent chef, and loved doing arts and crafts. She was known for her creativity and creating something out of nothing. She had an infectious smile, warm hug, and compassionate spirit.
Candy is survived by her husband Ismael, and her children, Ivan and Carey, mother, and brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4th, 2020 at the Happy Acres Cowboy Church on 5270 W 171st St S Mounds, OK 74047 at 10 o’clock A.M. Flowers may be send to the church or a donation can be made out to the family.
