Byron Jones

April 15, 1973 — March 7, 2024

Byron Keith Jones, affectionately known as "Keke," of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 50. Byron was born on April 15, 1973, in Monroe, Louisiana, to his parents, Cecil and Lois (Wilson) Jones. Byron was the youngest of six children, Lillie, Timmy, Cleo, Gary Jones, and Kisha Johnson.

He spent his formative years in Monroe, Louisiana, and attended Wossman High School. Byron worked various jobs throughout his life, including in waste management and at Hiland Dairy with his cousin Demetris. Most recently he worked as a truck driver, traveling across the country, for a local company.

Keke, as he was known to many, was described in various ways by those who knew him best. Gary spoke of him as honest and upfront, while his niece Maranda saw him as eclectic and pure. His sister Lillie remembered him as a helper and a friend to many. Keke was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed attending games, especially during his time living in Dallas, Texas. Often, he would share these experiences with his brother Gary.

He also found enjoyment in visiting casinos, not just for the games but mainly to make new friends. Keke was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the beauty of life itself. He loved listening to people, turning strangers into friends with ease. Traveling was another passion of his, always working towards the next place he wanted to explore.

Throughout his life, Keke was fueled by his love for learning, often found engrossed in books with the energy from his many cups of coffee. He wasn't one for shallow conversations, preferring to delve deep into discussions about the meaning of life among many other topics.

Keke is preceded in death by his mother Lois Jones and brother Timmy Jones. He leaves behind cherished memories with his family, including his father Cecil Jones; (4 siblings) Lillie, Cleo, Gary (Trish) and Kisha; (3 nieces) Maranda Jones, Shanell Jones and Ty Williams; (2 nephews) Cardavian and D'Michael, (1 great niece) Sarai Carnahan and many cousins, aunts, uncles & friends.
