Bobby Joe Lewis

Bobby Joe Lewis passed away Sunday morning, June 7, 2015 in Tulsa, OK. He was born November 16, 1928 in Tulsa to Layton Culley and Ella Helen (Wall) Lewis. Bobby grew up in Magazine, Arkansas. He married Carroll Ann Illingsworth on August 21, 1953.

Bobby spent most of his career as a professional truck driver and he was very proud of his vocation. He was employed by AA Trucking, Hugh Breedy, Metro Tulsa Transit Authority, Kraft Tours, Bama Transportation Company, and Everett Reynolds Trucking. Bobby was mechanically minded. He worked on cars and lawn mowers regularly. He loved trucking, coffee, Fresca, and banana bites. Bobby could tell you how to drive anywhere along with every good place to eat along the way.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his son James Layton; granddaughter Cassie Marie Lowen; brother Donald Raymond Lewis; and his sister Roda Ann Lewis. He is survived by his wife Carroll Lewis; children Susan A. McCutchen (William), Donna Frazee, Stewart Lewis, Barry Lewis (Deborah), Rainey Lowon (Steven), Carmen Lewis, and Charles Daniel Riddle; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and sisters Sybill Khilling and Dora Gene Starling (Donald).

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service at Memorial Park, 5757 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa. A funeral ceremony, celebrating Bobby's life, is scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow.
