He spent his youth growing up in various small towns in Kansas. He met the love of his life, Bette Baker while at Cherryvale High School. They married and spent the next 57 years together. They were blessed with three wonderful children.
Bob worked construction jobs the majority of his life. Anyone who knew him would say he was one of the hardest working men they ever knew. His work ethic was beyond reproach and he instilled that work ethic into his sons. Because of his hard nose approach to life, he was jokingly known as "Bad Bob", but to his grandchildren, he was known as Papa. He always provided for his family. He worked into his 70's, finishing his career as an inspector for the oil industry. Due to the nature of his profession, he traveled extensively around the country. During his travels he made many friends. He remained close to two very dear friends, Dusty Campbell and Kenny Catlett.
He is survived by his wife Bette, daughter Tammy Steele, son Ron Cornett and wife Teri, son Bobby Cornett and wife Dena, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
