Bob F Hudspeth

Bob Hudspeth left this life peacefully and was welcomed to his heavenly home by his Savior and Lord on Sunday, January 12th, at the age of 72.



Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years Connie Renee Hudspeth, daughter Monica Blackburn and husband Sam, daughter Megan Hoey, son Logan Hudspeth and wife Jennifer, and eight precious grandchildren: Caleb, Sydney and Jordyn Blackburn; Kyndall, Addyson and Ryann Hoey; and Gehrig and Maris Hudspeth. He is also survived by foster daughter, Sandy Barnard and husband James, and their children Lauren, JB and Sophie. He leaves behind brother Jerry Hudspeth, sister Melba Downing and husband Mike, and niece Georgia Albury and husband Gordon, all of Texas.



He was preceeded in death by his parents Ira and Ollie Hudspeth, sister Shirley Vincent, and brothers Jack Hudspeth and Tom Hudspeth.



Bob was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on June 29, 1947, as a middle child in a modest and rural family home. In his early teen years his love for and ability in sports became evident, which ultimately led him to excel in football, basketball, but most successfully, baseball. He graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Oklahoma in 1965 and continued his education and baseball pursuit at Bacone Junior where he played on the Bacone National Junior College Championship team, and then Oklahoma State University. Following a sports injury, he returned to Tulsa and graduated from Tulsa University in 1972. That same year he married Connie on September 30th.



In 1972, he gave his heart to the Lord making Him the foundation of his life. He was involved in planting churches, ministering to the elderly, and countless other activities within his church and family.



After several years in city management, in 1981 he and a business colleague formed an engineering consulting firm, FHC, Inc., that served municipalities and state organizations in Oklahoma and adjacent states for the next 20 years.



Upon early retirement, Bob then immersed himself in politics namely with the Republican Party, recruiting candidates for office, and later being named an Oklahoma Delegate to the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2004 he was chosen as an Oklahoma elector to cast his vote for the Republican nominee, George W. Bush (his second term as President). Outside of politics, Bob was led to minister to individuals through several charitable organizations including Christ for Humanity, where he served on the Board until his death. His priority during his 20 years of retirement however was being “Papa Bob” to his grandchildren. He deeply cherished this role and participated fully in his grandchildren’s lives.



Whatever Bob did with his family, his business, his politics or his ministry, he embraced it fully, with a servant’s heart that resulted from him obediently following the Lord’s call for his life.



A true servant. Bob, we will miss you.



Bob will be remembered at a Celebration Service on Friday, January 17th, 10:00am at Fellowship Bible Church, 5434 East 91st Street, Tulsa, OK 74137.
