Bill Edgar Burns

William Edgar €œBill€ Burns, age 83 passed away on Monday, November 12, 2007 at his residence surrounded by loving family members.
Mr. Burns was born in Altus, Oklahoma on October 23, 1924 to Edgar W. Burns and Thelma Mollie (Kelly) Burns. He graduated from Altus High School in 1942 and received his Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma University. He enlisted in the United States Navy and received Campaign Medals: American Theatre of War Asiatic-Pacific Area and World War II Victory Medal.
On August 30, 1946 he married the love of his life, Geraldine €œGerry€ McCarty in Altus, Oklahoma. Before retiring, Bill worked as a chemical engineer for John Brown Engineering; In the past he also worked for Phillips Petroleum, Iowa Beef Processors and Crest Engineering. He had been a member of the Jenks Church of Christ since 1975 and had served many years as an elder.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Edgar and Thelma Burns along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bill Burns is survived by his wife: Geraldine €œGerry€ Burns of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brother: John Phillip Burns and his wife, Joan, of Houston, Texas; three sons: David and his wife, Jean Burns of Mustang, Oklahoma; Ed and his wife, Dr. Vickie Burns of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Dr. Jim and his wife, Connie Burns of Altus, Oklahoma; two daughters: Molly and her husband, Jerry Endsley of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Gail and her husband, Robert Cochenour of Olathe, Kansas. Mr. Burns is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Dr. Bo Burns and his wife, Dr. Denise Burns; Emily and her husband, Jimmy Lawhorn; Laura and her husband, Luke Peterson; Tony Burns; Dr. Scott and his wife, Dr. Esti Burns; Kimberly and her husband, Brian Fisher; Jared Endsley; Bailey and her husband, Joe Collier; Lena Endsley; Grant Cochenour, Amy and her husband, Justin Williams, Brette Cochenour, Levi Burns, Reagan Burns and Jessica Stollard; seven great grandchildren; Caleb, Leah, Brady, Alex, Skye, Justin, and Evelyn; two nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Jenks Church of Christ with Mr. Tracy Ellis, officiating.
