Betty Louise Mizell

Betty Louise Mizell, 91 years of age and lifelong Oklahoma resident & businesswoman, of Glenpool died Sunday, September 6, 2020 at St Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma of complications following surgery for colon cancer.

Betty was born August 26, 1929 in Slick, Oklahoma. She was the eldest of 6 children of John Edmond “Slim” Edwards & Ruby Mae (Lane) Edwards.

Betty was preceded in death by both parents & 2 younger siblings; a brother Johnny E. Edwards, a sister Donna Mae Walker, and a grandson Russell Alan Rutter.

She is survived by her sisters Helen Krause and Phyllis Blaney and her brother Ed D. Edwards.

After graduating from Shamrock High School in Shamrock, Oklahoma. Betty married now deceased, Olen L. Bly of Drumright, Oklahoma. This union produced 3 surviving children; Cynthia Rutter, Phil Bly, and Bettina Richardson. Betty & Olen were married 23 yrs before eventually divorcing. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews.

Betty’s 2nd marriage of 36 yrs was to Amos Edgel Mizell of Bristow, Oklahoma; predeceased her as did Edgel’s son, Steve. Survivors include Edgel’s daughter, Teresa Buttram and her husband Dale Buttram of Mounds, Oklahoma,10 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, also many beloved nieces & nephews.



Graveside Services will be Friday, September 18, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Bristow City Cemetery.
