Betty Lou Largent

October 21, 1938 — January 28, 2010

Betty Lou Largent, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the age of 71. She was born Friday, October 21, 1938 to Richard and Artie (Pulliam) Cody in Seminole, Oklahoma. On August 28, 1954, she married Floyd Largent in Paden, Oklahoma. They moved to Okmulgee, where she lived through out the rest of her life. Betty worked at Kress and Ramsey’s Department stores and was owner of Pam’s Kids Clothes and then later retired from The Dowry Ltd. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee. She was a loving and giving person and will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ben and Ada Pulliam, her parents, one brother, Thomas Cody and one sister, Donna Dufek. Survivors include her husband, Floyd Largent of the home; two children, Sheri Sewell and husband, Bruce of Okmulgee and Jayme Shutt and husband, Mark of Austin, TX; one granddaughter, her sweetie pie, Emily Shutt; one brother, Dean Cody and wife, Violet of Edwards, MO and one sister, Lynda Grubbs and husband, Jack of Billings, OK. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral and Cremation Service in Okmulgee. Visitation will be held Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home.
