Betty Lou Alcorn

May 18, 1930 — February 28, 2022

On Monday, February 28, 2022, Betty Lou Alcorn passed from this life to her heavenly reward. She was 91 years old.

Betty was born at home in Tulsa to her parents, Lura Pearl and James (Jim) Richard Raburn, on May 18, 1930. She was the youngest of three with the oldest being brother, Randy, and sister, Nita.

Betty attended Tulsa schools through the end of her sophomore year at Central High School. She met a handsome Marine, Kenneth Alcorn, who had just returned from serving in World War II. They married on February 1, 1947. After enjoying time together, in 1952 they began their family beginning with Steven Keith. Kenneth Russell, Kevin Michael, Donna Kay and Joni Lea were added to the fold and the family of seven was complete.

As a devoted mother and homemaker, Betty spent much of her time involved in her children's lives through school and church. She was actively involved in PTA as well as Cub Scouts as den mother. She was passionate about her faith and served as a Sunday School teacher as well as a leader of the many women's fellowship groups she belonged to. She had a true servant's heart and prepared many a meal for grieving families. She and Ken were long-time members of Sandusky Avenue Christian Church.

Betty loved to read her Bible and her social life revolved around her church family. She also enjoyed watching movies with family and finding gems at thrift stores and garage sales. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends, usually with food involved. She never failed to let her children and grandchildren know that she loved them, was praying for them and giving thanks for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her husband, Ken; sons, Kenn and Kevin; and grandson, Sean Gainey. She is survived by Steve (Jera) Alcorn; daughter-in-law, Beth Alcorn; Donna (Bruce) Gainey; and Joni (David) Clear. Also, grandchildren, Ian (Terri) Alcorn; John Alcorn; Amber (Curtis) Meloy; Kendra (Kevin) Eddy; Valerie (Chris) Bumpas; Lauren (Blaise) Hackler; Adam (Megan) Clear; Taylor Gainey.
