Betty Jo Stange

Betty Jo Stange, a resident of Okmulgee, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the age of 72. She was born on Monday, December 28, 1936 to Hugh Henry and Myrtle Alma (Thurman) McElhannon in Paden, Oklahoma. On October 23, 1954, she married Raymond Stange in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Crosstown Pentecostal Church in Okmulgee and a member of the Ladies Outreach Group. Betty enjoyed being around people and was the perfect hostess but her greatest joy was serving the Lord and spending time with her family and loving her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh Henry and Myrtle Alma McElhannon. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Raymond “Bud” Stange of the home; three daughters, Carol Johnson and husband, Tom of Okmulgee; Debra Blankenship and husband, Jesse of Okmulgee and Dianna Kelley and husband, Roger of Coweta; two grandchildren, Kriste Harvey of Broken Arrow and Penny Watkins and husband, Jonathon of Okmulgee; five great grandchildren, Kurt Padilla, Rebecca Watkins, Jaden O’Quin, Ashlyn Watkins and Noah Watkins; two sisters, Florence Summers and Helen Fuller and husband, Thad all of Okmulgee and one brother, Billy McElhannon of Henryetta. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Crosstown Pentecostal Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Wesley Berry and Reverend Delbert Belcher officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shurden Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
