Betty Jo Maloney

Betty Jo Maloney, 84 years old, of Okmulgee, OK, passed away early Monday morning, May 8, 2017 in Tulsa, OK, after battling Alzheimer’s.

Betty was born in Webb City, Oklahoma on September 2, 1932 to the late Gladys May (Chambers) McGrew and Calvin Monroe McGrew. She was married to the late Roy Denzell Maloney for over 41 years.

In 1950 she graduated from Okmulgee High School and went on to graduate from Draughon Business College in Tulsa, OK, and also attended OSU Okmulgee.
She retired from ONG in service work. Betty and her husband owned and operated Maloney's Furniture in Okmulgee. Also, Betty along with her daughters owned and operated Xanadu Apparel from 1987 to 2002.
Betty was very creative and a talented artist. You may have seen her murals on different buildings located in Okmulgee, OK. She did oil and china paintings and also upholstered furniture, sewed, made furniture, and could iron a shirt to the point it could stand alone. She often said that if you stood still long enough, she would paint you.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Gladys McGrew; her husband, Roy Denzell Maloney; her sisters, Leona McGrew, Velma McGrew Jones, and Fern McGrew; her brothers, Lloyd McGrew, Ike McGrew, and Bob McGrew.
Betty is survived by her five daughters. Debbie Watkins and husband, Terry, of Okmulgee, OK, Ruth Lichnovsky of Arlington, TX, Kathy Barton and husband, John, of Okmulgee, OK, Jacqueline Mays of Macclenny, FL, and Vicky Graham and husband, Charles, of Okmulgee, OK. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. Trenace Casey and husband, Spike, of Morris, OK; Patience J. Jones and husband, Jess, of Tulsa, OK, Matt Lichnovsky and sister, Stacy Lichnovsky, of Arlington, TX, Chase Nunn and wife, Krystal, of Okmulgee, OK, Connor Graham and sister, Tori Graham, of Okmulgee, OK. Also, she is survived by three great grandsons, Jackson Casey, Cole Casey, and Troy Nunn.
Family will receive friends during the viewing & visitation 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Schaudt's Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel, 220 S. Alabama, Okmulgee, OK.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday May 12, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 311 W. 5th Street, Okmulgee, OK with Nathan McGrew officiating. Reception will follow in the gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
