Betty Jane Weigt, born August 6, 1924, in St. Paul, MN to Robert and Sylvia Dufour, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on December 30, 2015. Betty married Ernest Weigt on June 14, 1952 and together they raised four children, all born within 5 years.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernie, and brother Bob. She is survived by her children Steve, Mark and wife Brenda, Vicki, Cyndi and husband Roger Ridgeway; grandchildren Jesse and Daniele Benson, Mark Jr., Mitchell, Amanda and McKenzie Weigt all of Oklahoma; sisters Sylvia Neumann and Judy Nepstad of St. Paul, sister-in-law Marie Dufour of St. Paul, brother-in-law Louis Hough of Loveland, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty dedicated her life to her family and the Church. She and Ernie made their home in St. Paul until 1966 when Ernie’s job transferred them to Niles, Michigan, and again in 1972 to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ernie’s career required him to travel every week which left Betty to raise the children. She was strong, patient, loving and carried out her responsibilities without complaint. Betty had an incredible memory, and in recent years reminisced about shoveling snow off the driveway while her 4 little ones watched out the kitchen window, or hanging storm windows by herself while the children played in the yard.
Known for her excellent cooking and organizational skills, Betty was often found at Church organizing Women’s programs and serving meals at funerals and other events. She loved to read, quilt, travel and enjoyed bowling, golf and spending summers at her parent’s lake cabin in Alexandria, MN.
Betty is deeply missed, but will be forever in our hearts until we join her in Heaven.
Visitation is Monday, January 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 at Schaudt-Teel. Private family burial will be Tuesday, January 5 at Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for March, 2016.
