Bertha Smith, a resident of Henryetta for 30 years, passed away on August 7, 2010 in Henryetta, Oklahoma at the age of 90. She was born on November 7, 1919 to Samuel and Mentie (Cooper) Hood in Mesa, Arizona. Mrs. Smith owned a shoe repair business called "The Town Cobbler" in Ukiah, California. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Henryetta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lanneau N. "Bud" Smith in 2009 and her parents, Samuel and Mentie Hood; son, Thomas Densel, brother, Samuel Curtis Hood, sister, Mary Elizabeth Hood, brother, Robert Franklin Hood, sister, Dorothy Koubik, brother, Thomas Hood, brother, Richard Hood and sister, Josephine Jensen. Survivors include her daughters: Telitha Roby of Henryetta, Ok and Nancy Jane Richard of Redwood Valley, California, sons: William Henry Smith of Seattle, Washington and Samuel Hood Smith of California, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Michael DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Hoffman Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Douglas Wayne Roby, Darrel Lee Hart, Samuel Hood Smith and Michael DeWitt. Honorary Pallbearer will be William Henry Smith.
