Benjamin Charles Guthrie

Benjamin Charles Guthrie age 85 passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at
St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Guthrie was born at home in Jenks, Oklahoma on September 11, 1928 to Jenny (Kincaide) and Benjamin Arthur Guthrie. He graduated from Jenks High School with the Class of 1948. He married Velda Lou (Jones) on January 11, 1952 in Dawson, Oklahoma and just celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Benjamin owned several service stations in the community of Jenks, Charlie’s DX, Kerr McGee, Gulf, and Charlie’s Texaco he also worked as a bus driver for Jenks Public Schools for a 17 years. He was a charter member of Beaver Street Baptist where he served as a deacon for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jenny Guthrie and Benjamin Arthur Guthrie.

Benjamin is survived by his wife, Velda L. Guthrie of Jenks, his two daughters, Tina Goodacre and her husband David of Nuyaka, Keely Keiser and her husband Darryl of Jenks; his son, Dean Guthrie and his wife Sherrie of Oologah; his brother, Don Guthrie of Tulsa; his loving grandchildren, Kristie, Kyle, Kayla, Chelsea, Wyatt, Kaytie, and Justin, and his great grandchildren, Camdyn and McKinley along with other family members and friends.

Pallbearers are David Goodacre, Dean Guthrie, Darryl Keiser, Kyle Goodacre,
Wyatt Guthrie and Preston Chevalier. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Keiser and James Dooley.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Beaver Street Baptist Church, Jenks, Oklahoma with Reverend Jerry Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Haven memorial Gardens.
