Bayla Nell Burrus

Bayla Nell Burrus, gave up her fight with Alzheimer's Disease on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the age of 71 in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Bayla was born January 28, 1951, in Abilene, Texas to C.B. and Marian Nell Rushing. Bayla lived in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma for the early years of her life. She met Carl at Kiefer High School in Oklahoma. Carl Kenneth Burrus and Bayla married on June 6, 1970, where they took up residency in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. They were married for 52 years. A big change occurred in 1974 when Stephanie Janell was born, their only daughter. Carl and Bayla supported and cheered on every activity that Stephanie participated in.

Bayla was preceded in death by her father, C.B. Rushing and her mother, Marian N. Rushing. Survivors include husband, Carl Burrus, two sisters, Andra Vanarsdel and Billie Jean Capehart, daughter, Stephanie Bullinger and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Mackayla Bullinger, Hayden Bullinger and his wife, Caley, and the most caring and loving brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Earline Lierly. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Bayla enjoyed baking, sewing, painting, and was very talented as a decorator. She enjoyed traveling with her mother and two sisters. She loved cake, she was a great cook, she was a perfectionist, and she wouldn’t take lip from anyone! She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where she taught Bible class, always helped with activities, and worked as the church secretary. She and Carl hosted big Halloween celebrations which included spook houses, hay rides, and fun for all. Other enjoyed activities included many sporting events, dance recitals, and anything their two grandkids were involved with.

Funeral service is planned for Thursday at 2:30pm on October 20, 2022 at the Glenpool Church of Christ, 12932 S. Elwood Ave., Glenpool, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held at Schaudt’s Funeral Service, 719 E. 141st St., Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033 on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Interment following service at Green Hill Cemetery, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
