Barbara Sanchez

Barbara F. Sanchez, a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 87. Barbara was born on October 19, 1936, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Hurbert Elgin and Ola B. Franklin.

Barbara spent her formative years in Birmingham, where she graduated from Phillips High School. Her high school, still standing today, now has a highway that runs above it-a testament to the passage of time and change that Barbara witnessed throughout her life.

After high school, Barbara pursued a career as a graphic artist, dedicating 20 years of her professional life to the Fort Smith Times Record. Her artistic talents and dedication to her craft left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working with her.

In her personal life, Barbara was united in marriage with her late husband, Gilberto Sanchez. Their marriage lasted approximately 12 years before Gilberto's passing, leaving Barbara with cherished memories of their time together.

Barbara is survived by her three children: Keith Dreger, Patrick McIntire, and Gayle McIntire. She was a loving mother whose influence and care will be remembered fondly by her family.
