Barbara Jean Cummings

November 8, 1946 — November 28, 2022

Barbara Jean Cummings of Sand Springs, OK, passed away peacefully at at her home on November 28, 2022, at the age of 76.

Barbara entered into the world on November 8, 1946, in El Centro, CA, the eldest of five children born to Lawrence and Wanda (Queen) Cummings. As a child she helped her mother care for her younger siblings and with household chores. Her caring nature, dependability, and helpful attitude carried over into her adult life. After her high school graduation, she received her cosmetology license. Later she became a paramedic and EMT, which led her to seek a nursing degree. Although her studies were left incomplete due to having many other tasks that required her attention, she never lost her love of helping others. One of her greatest joys in life, was becoming a mother to two boys. Barbara was a very involved parent and was the leader for the Boy Scout troop that her sons were a part of. During this period, she joined the gardening club and won "Yard of the Month" multiple times.

Barbara was always extremely diligent and loved to conquer new tasks. When she was younger, she had great equestrian skills and used them while helping her husband with working their cattle. She had a wide variety of hobbies and talents that included; reading all genre of books, loving on her Yorkie, Roxie, gardening, garage selling, painting ceramics, crocheting, western dancing, vacations to Las Vegas, horse races, and reading up on or searching YouTube for all types of DIY projects. One of her projects included, installing a hot water heater. Not a task many women would attempt by themselves. Barbara enjoyed cooking, her specialty were the delicious pies she made. The one side dish that she was known for at any gathering, were her deviled eggs.

Since moving to Oklahoma eight years ago, she became close to her neighbors at the Lucile Page Manor. They were a wonderful group of neighbors who looked out for one another and spent many afternoons sitting outside on the porch catching up about the day's events. Barbara had one neighbor who brought her ice daily and another who kindly took out her trash. She in return, would give rides to neighbors who needed a ride but were without a vehicle.

Her family and friends will miss Barbara immensely, and the one sentence that was used most frequently, "You need to .......".
