Barbara (Bobbie) Ann Hurst went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. A resident of Bald Hill, Oklahoma. She was born on October 4th, 1944 to Inez Vanlandingham Sullivan and Thomas West in Mesa, Arizona. She moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where she met and soon married the love of her life Carl Hurst on December 1st, 1961.
Bobbie was a homemaker, a cook at Preston schools, a checker and meat wrapper at Neal's Mission Lane, a Tulsa World paper delivery person, and above all, she was an awesome Meme.
As a mother Bobbie always encouraged her kids to excel in everything. She was the center of the family with an unlimited amount of unconditional love. She was the peace keeper. She truly loved her family. Bobbie traveled many miles supporting the teams for whom her children played. Bobbie and Nell Casey started the very first Preston Booster club. Bobbie was an avid reader, artist, and caretaker of many hummingbirds. Bobbie loved painting, doing crafts, working puzzles, and teaching it all to her grandkids. She loved helping Carl coach baseball and watching fast-pitch softball. Most of all, she loved talking about her grandkids. Although not a fan herself, she proudly flew her University of Tulsa flag in her front yard.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Carl whom she was married to for 61 years, parents, brother Tommy West and sister JoAnn West.
Bobbie is survived by her five children: Jimmy Hurst (Cheryl Hurst) of Preston, Oklahoma, Ray Hurst (Trish Hurst) of Wilson, Oklahoma, Connie Brown of Bald Hill, Oklahoma, Jeanette Keever of Bald Hill, Oklahoma, and Casey Hurst (April Hurst) of Bald Hill, Oklahoma. She has 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Bobbie is survived by five siblings: Jean West of Kaufman, Texas, Richard West (Peggy West) of Trinidad, Texas, Susan Docken of Kaufman, Texas, Melanie Vanlandingham (Barbara Koegl) of Dallas, Texas, and Patricia Vanlandingham of Dallas, Texas.
