Ava Earleen Rushing

September 19, 1969 — March 4, 2025

Ava E. Rushing was born to the late Audrey (Jeannie) Rushing and Billy Love, On September 19 1969, in McAlester Oklahoma. She departed this earthly life March 4, 2025. 

She received Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of New Light of the world Number 2 for over Twenty plus years. Ava was a graduate of Tulsa McClain High School, furthering her education at St Gregory Jr. College and Oral Roberts University where she was the MVP Basketball star in all three arenas, she received many awards during her basketball career including the Gatorade player of the year. After returning from college Ava coached the Girls Basketball Team at McClain High School and through her passion, she created a summer league basketball team for high school graduates which brought fun and laughter to the community. 

She was Currently Employed at Tulsa Public School as a Paraprofessional until her death. When the Family thinks of Ava, we all agree with the biblical meaning of Ava. Which it states: (Emphasizes the Importance of aligning our desires with Gods will It encourages us to seek his guidance and allow him to shape our desire according to his divine purpose for our lives.) And to sum that up, that is what Ava would like us to do.

We celebrate Ava's life and the impact she had on those around her. The family has found solace in the countless memories they have shared over the years. She was not only a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and grandmother, she was a friend, “Sista, Provider, Protector, A shoulder to cry on, a listening ear to those who needed her, she was a ride or die for those she loved, the apple of everyone's eye. She had a rare ability to light up a room the moment she walked in with her infectious smile and her vibrant personality, She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

 Ava was the bedrock of her family, a steady source of support and love, her passing leaves a profound void, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Words cannot express the sadness our hearts are feeling right now, but we know heaven has gained another angel. Her legacy Extends far beyond her family. Ava’s caring nature, ever positive outlook impacted everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, she enjoyed Playing Basketball, family gatherings Cooking, going to church and spending time with her grandchildren. 

At the gates of heaven waiting for her was her Mother Audrey Rushing, her brother Timothy Rushing, her step father Rosevelt Joseph all of Tulsa Oklahoma. She leave behind 3 Children Amisha Rushing Richardson (Steven Richardson) of Shreveport Louisianna, ShayKia Rushing of Tulsa Oklahoma and Johnta Rushing (Hannah Rushing) of Tulsa Oklahoma 10 Loving Grandchildren who brought immense joy and warmth into her life. Timothy, Alani, Amari, Aniyah, Lailah, Jayda, Aryn, Steven, Ava, Shaneil. So until we meet again, LATA ON!
