Ava Nell Buss

A memorial service honoring the life of Ava Nell Buss will be held at a later date. Ava Nell "Avanell" (Bingham) Buss, passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 20, 2017. She was 69.

Avanell was born November 5, 1948 in Jay, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ethel (Drake) Armitage and Arthur Bingham. She attended schools in Jay and later Vinita High School, she was a talented writer.

In 1967, Avanell married John Rush in Vinita, Oklahoma and to this union were 3 children. John preceded her in death at the age of 35, in 1983. Avanell married Fred Buss in 1988 preceding her in death in 2006.

Avanell had many talents. During her life she worked at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita as an aide, she also worked in Home Health care. Avanell was a school bus driver, and an assistant manager of Circle K . She attended 2 years at Frank Phillips College and Amarillo College in 1991 for nursing; later attending truck driving school in Tucumcari. She and her husband, Fred drove as a team for about 2 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ethel (Drake) Armitage and Arthur Bingham; husbands, John Rush and Fred Buss; and sister, Bertha Lou.

Survivors include daughter, Lesa Rush; sons, John Rush and Joe Rush; grandchildren, Cheyenne Rush and Jory Nall; and great-grandson, Jaden Rush. She also leave sisters, Sandra Perdue and Jessie Felmlee; and a brother, Arthur Bingham.

As her daughter I will always remember the compliments about how beautiful mother was, I never knew her to be scared to try anything. She had a strong-will and was fiercely independent. Avanell loved to talk and reminisce about family stories and her laugh will always be remembered. She loved to call her family just to chat, give her wisdom on any subject, or just listen if that’s what you needed. She could always make you feel that if you had a problem it would work out. She would make many a long drive to rescue me from whatever I needed rescued from and later, when her granddaughter would need her help she would always come whether it was day, night far or near, rain or snow. She will be missed by many.
