He was also affectionately known as “A.C.”, “Johnny”, “Johnno”, “Annan”, “Appa”, “Thatha”, “Periappa” and “Big Pep”.
A.C. Johnson was born in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, India to Samuel Johnson and Lucia Bessie Johnson. He is the eldest of seven siblings—two sisters and four brothers. He is a graduate of the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. He has served as a professor and chairman of the department of radiology at the Christian Medical College. He also served on the faculty of Vanderbilt University Hospital. He has published in medical journals and written for medical books. He also served as a speaker in many national and international medical conferences. He was also a consultant with the Servant Institute of Radiology and worked at the Cancer Treatment Center.
Of his life’s work, however, he was the first to insist that “Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ (Philippians 3:8).
He is preceded to the Throne of God by his father, mother and his brother, Nesadoss Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Satyabama Johnson, siblings Vasantha Chella, Mano Johnson, Albert Johnson, Beulah Johnson and Augustine Johnson, as well as by his children Rajkumar Johnson, Ebenezer Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson and Andrew Johnson, and his five grandchildren Albert Johnson, April Johnson, Christie Johnson, Joshua Johnson and Joanna George.
His greatest joy was in serving his Lord. He shared with his loved ones in recent months “Do not worry for me…I am going to my Father’s house. Make sure you’re going there as well.”
A brief service will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, August 21 at Schaudt’s Funeral Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a graveside service and interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
