Alyssa Rene Edlund

July 1, 1994 — August 7, 2021

Alyssa was an independent, strong-willed, beautiful, intelligent, sarcastic, dish it and take it type of woman whose life was tragically and senselessly cut short on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the age of 27 years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Alyssa Rene Edlund was born on Friday, July 1, 1994, in Tulsa, OK to her parents, Robert and Holly (Howard) Edlund. Growing up, Alyssa was active in cheerleading, playing softball, going to the park, and most of all...she loved sitting in the "Princess Chair." She enjoyed everything from dance classes to playing the saxophone to driving dirt track cars at the Creek County Speedway. She attended Sapulpa Schools and while in high school she was a member of the SHS sports medicine team as a trainer for the football team.

Alyssa enjoyed spending time outdoors with her dad. They shared a passion for hunting, fishing, and the understanding and importance of wildlife conservation. Having the love and passion for the outdoors, Alyssa felt drawn to help preserving it for the generations to come. The quote "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life" - sums up her decision to work in wildlife management and conservation.

Alyssa attended Oklahoma State University and was an active member of the Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. While at OSU she played intermural Lacrosse and continued spending time outdoors. She joined Women Hunt Too and became a member of their Pro-Staff. In 2015, she entered and won the title to their Ms. Redneck Royalty contest.

As a member of the graduating class of 2018, Alyssa was awarded a Bachelor of Science-Agriculture (BSAG) in Natural Resource Ecology & Management.

Although she held a professional license as an Insurance Producer and enjoyed that career field, her love was wildlife management, where she worked as a Field Research Intern on two separate occasions for the largest cattle company in the United States in their Wildlife Management division; she traveled from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Florida to work at their various ranches. Alyssa was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. She also interned at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation- Jenks Office.

After graduation, Alyssa fulfilled her lifelong dream to travel by taking a 30-day solo trip to Cuba, Mexico and Belize.

She loved spending time with her family...especially her nieces and nephews who called her "Teetah." She loved being known as the "Cool Aunt." It didn't matter the occasion - however big or small, she would always find a way to be there for them. From going on Starbucks "dates" together, supporting them in all their activities, and maybe even helping them give their parents a hard time here and there - It goes without saying that being their Teetah meant the absolute world to her.

Whether she was hunting in the woods or dressed up to the nines and out for a night on the town, Alyssa was right at home. She had no problem jumping in to help clean the game or fish harvested, but at the same time she also enjoyed pampering herself by getting her hair and nails done.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Mary Edlund; grandfather, Robert Howard; and brother Blake Edlund.

Alyssa leaves many loving memories with her family; dad and mom, Bobby & Holly Edlund; sister, Kailey and husband Roberto Arellanes; brother, Christian Edlund and wife, Emily; grandparents, Craig and Cheryl Gravel; Uncle Greg and Aunt Shannon Ganz; cousins, nieces, nephews and other loving family members and a host of friends.
