Alva Edward Rigney, 87, of Okmulgee, OK, passed away early Thursday morning, March 9, 2017, at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee.
Alva was born in Checotah, OK on November 20, 1929, a son of the late Sarah Elizabeth (Berry) and Claude Rigney.
He married the love of his life, Juanita Emma McDonald, on May 29, 1954 in Shady Grove, Oklahoma. They celebrated 63 years of marriage last year.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morris.
He served in the U.S. Army and after his honorable discharge he attended OSU tech to become an electrician. After working for American Window Glass for a number of years, he then worked for KELCO until his retirement.
Alva is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 5 sisters.
Alva leaves many loving memories with his family, wife, Juanita, of the home; a son,Edward Rigney, of Tulsa, OK; nephews, Winford Rigney and wife DeAnn of Skiatook, OK, James Jenkins and wife Pat of Admore, OK, Roy Dale Jenkins and wife Nora of Muskogee, OK, Wayne Burks of Checotah, OK; nieces, Carol Vaugh of Rochester, IN and Carolyn Lane and husband Cecil of Choteau, OK.He is also survived by several great nieces & nephews, as well as many other loving family members and a host of friends.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Okmulgee Cemetery, with Rev. Tracy Hoskins officiating.
