Raymond Allen Fat Jack Red Phillips, age 58, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Allen was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Raymond Phillips and Edna (Pugh) Phillips on May 8, 1948. Allen attended Jenks Public Schools before entering the United States Army where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He re-enlisted three times giving him a total of ten years - four months and fourteen days of serving his country. He was a Disabled American Veteran.
Mr. Phillips met the love of his life and married Charlotte (Updegraff) Phillips in Glenpool, Oklahoma on July 21, 1972. Allen was an avid Jenks Trojans Football fan. He and his friend, Ken Parks, started the 20 Yard Gang. He liked to play poker, work in his flower garden and fish in his spare time. He was an Honor Guard for VFW District 5 American Legion Post 95. Allen was known for his outstanding pool playing abilities. He was a retired meter reader for the City of Jenks Water Department.
Allen was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Phillips.
He is survived by his mother: Edna Phillips of Jenks; his wife: Charlotte of Jenks; his two daughters: Stacey Swanson and her husband, Eric, of Jenks; Nicole Phillips of Jenks; two brothers: Bobby Phillips of Jenks, Dennis Phillips and his wife, Sandy of Texas; two sisters: Karen Laust and her husband, Tom of Lawrence, Kansas and Velma Bright and her husband, David of Bixby. Allen is also survived by his four grandsons: Taylor Swanson, Hunter Swanson, Brendan Swanson and Connor Swanson of Jenks along with numersous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be: Michael Nix, Christopher Nix, John Bennett, John Killer, Fred Reid, Lloyd Bell, Bruce Parker and Steve Garrison.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Manger Baptist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Reverend Troy Hayes will officiate. Interment will take place at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
