Later, he was stationed at Fort Bragg. His last appointment was in Berlin, Germany before retiring in 1971.
Allan graduated from West Point Military Academy, he served for 20 years in the special forces is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Allan married Sonya Zoe Little in 1953 and they ushered in three sons from that marriage. Ten years later, the couple divorced.
In 1967, Allan married Nari Kaufmann. She remained by his side until passing away, January 2016. The couple enjoyed a wonderful life, spending time between homes in Germany and the United States and travelling to all points across the globe.
