Albert Neal Blankenship

June 3, 1934 — July 14, 2013

Albert Neal Blankenship, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the age of 79. He was born June 3, 1934 to Emmett Jessie and Esther Lee (Looney) Blankenship in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. On October 18, 1952, he married Betty Jane Sutterfield in Arkansas. Albert worked for Ball Brothers for 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and liked a good home cook meal. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Esther Blankenship; son, Benge Blankenship and grandson, David VanStraten. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Blankenship; children, Michael Blankenship and wife, Kay of Mill Creek, Jesse Blankenship and wife, Debra of Okmulgee, Marvin Blankenship of Okmulgee, Teresa Sherrill and husband, Robbie of Salem and Jeannie Sutton and husband, Bill of Okmulgee; brother, Benny Blankenship of Okmulgee; sister, Betty Smith of Beggs; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three and one on the way great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Brother Wesley Berry officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the family will greet friends that night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
