Albert Lewis Neal, a dedicated Army veteran and beloved family man, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the age of 78. Born on August 31, 1944, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to John and Lula (Issac) Neal, Albert's life was characterized by unwavering commitment and love.
Albert's passing occurred at St. Francis Hospital on July 5, 2023, at 23:53. He had fought a long and hard battle for the past 10 years since suffering a massive stroke on the left side that left him paralyzed in July 2013. Albert defied the odds and proved doctors wrong on numerous occasions, but his weariness grew, and he longed to reunite with his family in heaven.
Albert's devotion to his country was evident through his proud service in the Army. Answering the call of duty at the young age of 17, he embarked on a journey that would shape his character and instill in him a deep sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism. Albert's time in the military served as a testament to his selflessness and dedication.
During his military years, Albert was based out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was later stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, before being deployed to Aus bock, Germany. He courageously served two tours in Vietnam, exemplifying his bravery and commitment to his fellow soldiers and his nation.
During his life's journey, Albert found his soulmate, Wanda Conley. They exchanged vows of matrimony on May 7, 1976, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Wanda was Albert's rock, providing him with immeasurable joy and steadfast love throughout their shared years.
Albert dedicated his professional life to being a skilled Boilermaker, working diligently for numerous companies across several states. Through his hard work and dedication, he not only excelled in his chosen profession but also provided for his family in meaningful ways.
Albert is survived by his beloved spouse, Wanda Neal, whose love and companionship brought him immeasurable happiness. Additionally, Albert's memory will be cherished by numerous other loving relatives, including his children Lawana Bell and husband Dan Bell, Debbie Ehlen, Albert Neal Jr and wife Tesha Neal, LaDonna Tecumseh, Susan Smith and husband Mike Smith, and James Neal, Tonya Ladd as well as their respective families along with siblings Ruth and spouse James King, Rita Reddick, James and spouse Janice Neal, Mary and spouse Randy Schumacher, Homer and spouse Donna Neal, Loretta and spouse Ted Ridley and Dorothy Neal.
Albert also held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren Andrea Mouse and Collen Mouse of Quapaw, OK, Dallas Ladd of Bixby OK, Tony Brown Jr of Morris, OK, Desiree Tecumseh of Okmulgee, OK, Cheyenne Neal of Morris, OK, Dalton Neal of Beggs, Ok, Shawnee Neal of Catoosa, Wyatt Neal of Catoosa, OK, Jeremy and Victoria of Tulsa, OK, Joseph Compton of Tulsa, Mariah Hawley of Sapulpa, OK, Billy Bell of Olney, IL, Michael Bell of Decatur, IL, Danielle and Brendon Campbell of north Charleston, SC, Caleb and Amber Bell of Clinton, IL, Jessica Bell of Robinson, IL, Elliot Ehlen of Charleston, SC and Avery Ehlen of Charleston, SC.
Albert's parents, John and Lula Neal, and his Aunt Nancy, who was like a second mother to him, preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his brothers Raymond Neal and surviving spouse Sandra, Quinton "Sonny" Neal, Richard Neal, and John Neal, as well as his grandson John Bradley, grand daughter Amber Sabala and son-in-law Jeffrey Hess. Their memories and the values they instilled in Albert will be cherished and carried forward by those he left behind.
A wake service will begin at 5:00 PM at Concharty Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Concharty followed by a committal service at Ft Gibson National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
