Albert Dean Starkey

October 10, 1937 — December 12, 2012

Albert Dean Starkey was born to Iva and Arley Starkey on October 10, 1937 in Okemah, Oklahoma. He passed from this earthly home on December 12, 2012 at the age of 75. As a young child Albert lost his hearing, this seemed only to make his kind, giving heart and other senses stronger. Albert attended a School for the Deaf in Arizona. He worked in construction and masonry trades for most of his career. He is remembered by family and friends for his great smile and that he could always be counted on for a kind hand and a strong back. He had a love of the outdoors; fishing and hunting with family and friends were his most treasured memories. Many of the best memories of his family and friends include the times shared with Albert. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Sisters: Frankie, Johnnie, Elma and Brother: George. Surviving brother is James A. Starkey of Wichita, Kansas. Albert is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great-great cousins, nieces, nephews. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah with Reverend Bill Delso officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
