Wesley Ray Shelton

Wesley Ray Shelton, an avid outdoorsman and devoted family man, passed away on June 8, 2023, at the age of 87 in Slick, Oklahoma. Born on August 22, 1935, in Edna, Oklahoma, he lived a life filled with cherished memories, outdoor adventures, and a deep love for his family.

Wesley had a passion for hunting, fishing, and mowing. These activities allowed him to connect with nature and find solace in the great outdoors. Whether it was spending hours in a deer blind, casting his fishing line into a serene lake, or meticulously grooming his yard, Wesley found joy and contentment in these simple pleasures.

In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Wesley was a devoted family man. He was blessed with a loving wife, Joann who stood by his side for an incredible 67 years. Their unwavering commitment and love were an inspiration to all who knew them.

Wesley was a proud father to Darrell Shelton, Curtis Shelton (Melissa), Jeff Shelton (Christi), and Michael Shelton (Cindy). He instilled in them a love for nature and the importance of hard work. Wesley's children carry his legacy of dedication, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

As a grandfather, Wesley found immeasurable joy in the company of his grandchildren. Cara, Jake, Jaci, Jennifer, Darrell II "Butch," Kaitlynn, Chris, Joshua, and Tyler brought laughter and happiness into his life. He often shared stories of his hunting and fishing adventures, passing down his knowledge and passion to the younger generation.

In recent years, Wesley became a great-grandfather to Silas, Myla, Emileigh, Blayne, and Isabella. He took delight in their playful energy and innocent curiosity. Wesley's love for the outdoors extended to his great-grandchildren, as he eagerly looked forward to teaching them about the wonders of nature.

Wesley Ray Shelton will be fondly remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, gardening and mowing, but above all, for his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
