Paul G. Paulson

November 29, 1938 — December 31, 2014

Paul was born on November 29, 1938 the son of Dr. Alvin W. Paulson and Narcissa (Daugherty) Paulson in Clinton, Oklahoma. His father was a physician in this community and to this union two sons were born: Paul and Chris.

While in Clinton, Paul was baptized into the Christian faith at Trinity Lutheran church as an infant and later confirmed his faith as a teenager at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Oklahoma City. A few years later, in 1957 he graduated from High School in Lubbock, Texas and returned to the Oklahoma City area in 1959 when his father became the Chief of Outpatient Care at the VA hospital. He took classes at Oklahoma University and Graduated from Oklahoma City University (OCU) with a BA degree in Chemistry and Biology.

Paul is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War on the east coast as Quartermaster third class. After his service he returned to Oklahoma and moved to Tulsa where he took a teaching job that would last 30 years. Teaching Chemistry and Biology at Central High School he was known affectionately to his students simply as: Mr. P. He enjoyed the students and the facility he worked with… saying that along with two of his fellow teachers… Ray Bond and Fred Wightman they continually challenged each other to higher and higher standards of teaching. After retirement from teaching he took a position with Blue Cross and Blue Shield in the mail room where he worked for an additional 13 years until he took full retirement.
On August 14, 1970 he married Susie (Zingg) Masters in Tulsa and to this union one child was born Julie Marie Paulson.

Paul’s hobbies included Beekeeping and fly fishing. Some of his favorite memories include fly fishing each summer for trout with his cousin Skip Platt on the small creeks near Rapid City, South Dakota and fishing for White Bass with Harry and Frosty on the Illinois River.
His interest in the outdoors led him to be a member of the “Master Naturalist Organization”; he was also a member of the OEA and NEA.
Paul is survived by his wife Susie of the home; one daughter Julie Marie; one step-son Paul G. Masters II and Daughter-in-law - Cristina (Lillian) Masters; One granddaughter - Madison Masters; brother Chris Paulson and wife Becky of OKC; Two nephews Alvin of Dallas and Dwight of Denver.
