Dr. Kathi McDowell, a biology faculty member of 18 plus years, passed away at 8:48 a.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2017. Kathi was a dedicated NSU employee who conducted more than 15 summer academies, acquired numerous research grants, and received the much coveted NSU Circle of Excellence Award in Teaching in 2015.
We will miss Kathi's presence, but honor her accomplishments in the Broken Arrow Liberal Arts Building (BALA 216) from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2017. Her brother David McDowell and sister-in-law Amy will be present to share Kathi's favorite soft drink (root beer) and honor her memories. Feel free to drop by for a brief period of time with your brown bag lunch or just to just for a few minutes. A memory card will be provided for you to sign.
David asks that you contribute to the NSU Foundation rather than bringing flowers or cards as Kathi's desire was to have a "In Memory of Kathi McDowell" bench placed in the NSU-BA courtyard. Contributions may be sent to the NSU Foundation, 812 N. Cedar Avenue, Tahlequah, OK 74464 or online at http://www.nsugiving.com/s/1517/foundation-start.aspx. Be sure to notate on the contribution form, "In Memory of Kathi McDowell."
