Eunice Genevary Owen

Eunice Genevary Owen, 74, of Okmulgee, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016. She was born September 21, 1941 in Stockton, California to William Jasper and Lara Alice Duke.

On September 5, 1959, Eunice married Glenn Owen in Altus, Oklahoma, living in the Altus are until 1974 when the couple moved to Morris, and then later moving to Okmulgee in 1979. While in Okmulgee, Eunice was a school teacher at both Bible Baptist Academy in Okmulgee and Foursquare Christian School in Okmulgee, retiring from teaching in 1995. After leaving the teaching field, Eunice would go to work as a home health provider.

Eunice enjoyed quilting, working crossword puzzles, and reading. She also enjoyed spending time raising her three sons: Ricky, Jeff, and Larry as well as spending time with her grandchildren, Kenny, Jason, Jeremy, Kadie, Adrian and Jordan. Eunice also liked to can food and make homemade jelly, as well as take care of her many plants and flowers. Eunice is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Jasper Duke, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Owen, of the home; three sons, Ricky Owen of Altus, OK, Jeff Owen and wife Cathy of Henryetta, OK, and Larry Owen of Okmulgee, OK; six grandchildren, Kenny Owen of Okmulgee, OK, Jason Owen and wife C.C, of Houston, TX, Jeremy Owen and wife Winter of Stidham, OK, Kadie Chambers and husband Aaron of Stidham, OK, Adrian Owen of Okmulgee. OK, and Jordan Owen of Okmulgee, OK; four step grandchildren, Seth Woodell and wife Stephanie of Ada, OK, Andrew Briggs and wife Angelica of Buffalo Gap, TX, Anna Woodell of Okmulgee, and Michelle Smith and husband Dennis of Henryetta; seven great grandchildren, Dalton Owen, Lawson Owen, Emmaline Owen, Kairie Owen, Brooke Owen, Spencer Smith, Davey Woodell, Lillith Howton, Leia Howton, Olivia Woodell, Andi Briggs, Rilee Woodell, Emily Smith and Chris Medina; four sisters, Lavada Weston and husband Dean of Aberdeen, WA, Laura Freehling Weston and husband Roger of Aberdeen, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
