Dolores Dodi Jean, passed away December 22, 2006. Her family celebrates her full, vibrant, and influential life. Dodi was born November 24, 1931 in Tuskegee, OK, the daughter of Boyd and Marie Crowe Hughes, and was raised in Okmulgee.
On August 13, 1953, she married Darrell M. King of Jenks where they made their home and raised their children. She loved Jenks, serving on the city council and the Jenks Levee Board. She was also a member of Jayceettes and stayed active in public service. She attended Okmulgee schools and Oklahoma A&M (OSU). Dodi had a wonderful voice and sang for over 50 years with the Okmulgee Keynotes. She had her own show on Okmulgee radio KHBG, and while attending A&M, was the soloist for the campus band. She also worked for several years at First National Bank of Tulsa as an executive secretary. She was a national tournament bridge player, but her favorite time was spent on Grand Lake with Darrell and their family.
Dodi was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Russell Hughes.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell M. of Jenks; daughter, Vicki Thomas of Inola; sons, Richard W. of Los Angeles and David N. of Tulsa. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Darrell Thomas, Carly Evans and Alissa King; four great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27th at the Jenks First United Methodist Church 415 East Main, Jenks, OK with Reverend David Karges officiating. Interment will take place immediately following at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
