Betty Lou (Moore) Goodwin passed peacefully from this life to her Heavenly home on Saturday December 10, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born on February 25, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roland David Moore and Willie Muriel (Mock) Moore.
Betty grew up in the rural areas of Unger, Soper, Boswell and Hugo in southern Oklahoma. She attended Wade School just south of Unger, Oklahoma. She married Oral Goodwin on May 24, 1947 in Quincy, California and was married for 65 years. They moved to Okmulgee in the 1950's and made it their home.
Since 1959 Betty was a faithful active member at Southside Baptist Church (now Clearview Baptist Church) in Okmulgee. Her love and witness for Jesus Christ her Savior was seen in her daily walk with God.
In 1978 Betty was employed at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital in the Environmental Services Department as Supervisor and retired in 1996.
Betty's greatest enjoyment was spending time with all her family. She cooked many meals for Sunday dinners, Holidays and Birthday celebrations for her family. Friends often stopped by to visit and enjoyedher famous chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed quilting ,attending Blue Grass festivals, traveling with family and loved to be outside working in her yard and garden.
Betty and Husband Oral were active members in the Okmulgee Round UpClub where they rode their horses with others on many trail rides. They joined a Wagon Club and traveled from Oklahoma in their horse drawn covered wagon to various destinations such as Springdale, Arkansas.
Betty is preceded in death by her Husband Oral Cecil Goodwin (OC), Son Carl Wayne Goodwin, her Parents and Brothers Carl Moore and Robert Moore. She is survived by her three Daughters, Carolyn Palmer and Husband Larry Palmer, Charlotte Simpson and Phyllis Goodwin, Sister Marie Wiggins, three Brothers Floyd Moore and Wife Glenda, Johnny (J.R.) Moore and Wife Betsy, and Jerry Moore. Grandchildren (9): Carla Goodwin Rice and Husband Harvey Rice, Tammy Simpson Culp and Husband Tim Culp, Jody Morgan, Kristie Goodwin, Valerie Goodwin, Tina Palmer Tiffany and Husband Brian Tiffany, Chad Palmer, Mandy Simpson Soliz and Husband Eugene Soliz, Cindy Goodwin Hughes and Husband John Hughes. Great Grandchildren (15): Great Great Grandchildren (9): and many more loving family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mays Home Health care givers Aubrey and Sandy for all their love and care over the last few years.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Schaudt Okmulgee Funeral Service. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Clearview Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Pastors Randy Matthews and Kevin Gibson will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Okmulgee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Clearview Baptist Church in Okmulgee to continue God's work or to a Charity of your choice.
